Manortown v Sporting Greystones
Result : 4-1
Manortown U12’s were drawn in the Cup to play against Sporting Greystones. A fast start was requested by the manager to let the away team know this was not going to be an easy route to the Cup.
Tadhg O’Sullivan gave the home team an early lead which was followed by a great team goal finished by Eoin Whelan. It was 2-0 at half time and Manortown looked in full control and pushing for a third when Greystones got in one-on-one. Max came out of his goal and made a great save.
Tadhg swapped midfield for goal keeper and after making a few good saves, the away team scored a goal. It felt like everything was going against the lads and, if they had of struggled after that setback, then no one could have blamed them…but these lads are made of strong stuff and with most of them having been together since they were U7’s, they rallied for each other.
A bit of running the clock down in the corner by Daniel O’Keeffe turned into a great chance for Eoin and he duly banged his second of the game into the goal. Manortown absorbed more pressure and then broke away with Wendkouni, suffering all week with a chest infection, burst through the middle and hit the fourth to seal the win.
